SMEP Microfinance Bank Limited, a Christian based bank regulated by the Central Bank of Kenya, invites applications from interested and suitably qualified candidates to fill the positions of:

 

1)      TEAM LEADER - BANKING OPERATIONS & PROCESSES - TLBO/1/12/HRD/2014

Reporting to the Head of Retail Banking, the successful candidate will provide leadership in maintaining and improving operational processes, policies, and systems in support of the organization’s mission; Contributing to long and short term organizational planning which includes initiatives geared for operational excellence including managing, coordination and increasing the efficiency and effectiveness between both business and support departmental functions.

 Duties and responsibilities

·         Customer Care - Investigate, follow-up and respond to customer issues

·         Maintain records of specific details relating to customer complaints, enquiries, feedback, customer transactions and interactions (e.g. Logging the Customer enquiries and complaints in the Customer Care Register)

·         Channels Operations Support

·         Mobile Banking transactions/enquiries support

·         ATM Card Application/Renewal

·         ATM Transactions/enquiries support

·         Handling ATM Cards and PINs en-route to Branches

·         Agency Operations Management

·         Manage 3rd party Agents - Transactions management including channels floats

·         Branch Transactions management including channels floats

·         Data Entry Management

·         ATM and M-Banking (Mpesa) transactions corrections

·         Back End Processing e.g. Salary processing, Intra-bank Funds transfer etc

·         Processing of Mails (over-seeing the movement mailbags)

·         Process flows/Procedure manuals:-

·         Regularly review, update departmental operating instructions (process flows)

·         Perform continuous review of existing processes, challenge outdated or customer-unfriendly or inefficient processes, and facilitate re-engineering of the same in order to make the branches customer–centric or make the processes more efficient

·         Ensure availability of updated/end-to-end departmental operating instructions/procedure manuals within the branches and banking units and embed the relevant control standards in the branches/units

 Qualifications and competencies

·         Bachelors’ degree in Marketing, Finance, Banking, Economics or other business-related field 

·         Computer literacy and use of T-24 eMerge skills will be an added advantage

·         3 years experience in banking operations in a supervisory position in a reputable financial or microfinance institution

·         A thorough understanding of banking operations procedures relating to Cash, cheques, cards, deposits and loan products

·         Aged between 30- 40 years

 Other key skills - Posses demonstrable leadership skills, excellent and communication skills and good interpersonal skills and a team player

 

 

2)      AGRIBUSINESS MANAGER – ABM/2/12/HRD/2014

Reporting to the Team Leader – SME, the successful candidate will be charged with the responsibility of analyzing and mapping out marketing strategies that would increase profitability of the Agribusiness section in the company. Maintain a database that supports the business in order for customers to be well informed of the products offering from time to time.

 

Duties and responsibilities

·         Management and co-ordination of the company’s Agribusiness activities

·         Implementation of the agribusiness strategy

·         Championing market and product development in Agribusiness

·         Coordinate research in agribusiness interventions

·         Managing relations with agribusiness agencies, donors, and other stakeholders

·         Development of agribusiness training programs for staff, farmers and other stakeholders

·         Facilitate recruitment and registration of agribusiness customers.

·         Loan disbursements and deposit mobilization that meet defined growth and quality targets

·         Agribusiness reporting

·         Responsible for cumulating and maintaining agribusiness information

·         Maintain good public relation between SMEP and outsiders e.g. Public administration, farming communities, business community etc

Qualifications and competencies

·         Bachelors degree in Business or Agri-business, Agricultural Economics or Marketing related field

·         Have knowledge in group/individual agri-business lending

·         Demonstrable skills in strong leadership, marketing and reporting

·         Computer literacy

·         2 years experience in a similar position in a financial or microfinance institution

·         Preferably aged between 25 and 35 years

·         Applicants must hold strong Christian values, commitment and passion for the transformation of the low income population.

 Other key skills – posses good interpersonal and PR skills, a team player with demonstrable analytical and negotiation skills  

  

3)      SME OFFICERS – SMEO/3/12/HRD/2014

Reporting to the Team Head of SME the successful candidates will be charged with the responsibility of the management and growth of the portfolio of clients in the small and medium business segment.

Duties and responsibilities

         Sell and market a full range of financial services and products including deposit, trade finance, treasury, insurance, loans etc. for small business segment

         Achieve individual assets / liabilities and revenue targets through new account acquisition, and growing and maintaining assigned portfolios

     Analyzing loan requests and preparing written evaluations and recommendations for approvals, as well as coordinating the loan closings, ensuring that documents are properly prepared and executed.

         He/she will sustain productive relationships with borrowers and assist with problem loans.

         Maintain appropriate quality of the assigned portfolio

         Provide quality and professional advice to small business owners on their various financial needs

 

    Qualifications and competencies

 

        University graduates in Business, Banking/Finance/Accounting or related discipline

        Minimum 3 years solid experience as SME relationship/Credit officer/credit risk analysis,  preferably in small business segment environment

        Proven business development skills and loan underwriting track record in dealing with small and medium-sized business

         Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation and negotiation skills

         Good team player with an ability to work independently and under pressure

         Passionate and motivated to achieve goals with minimum supervision

4)      BANCASSURANCE OFFICER – BCO/4/12/HRD/2014

Reporting to the Team Leader - SME the successful candidate will be charged with the responsibility of the management and growth of the portfolio of clients in the small and medium business segment.

 

Duties and responsibilities

   Sell and market a full range of financial services and products including deposit, trade finance, treasury, insurance, loans etc. for small business segment

·         Prospecting and marketing various insurance products to prospective clients

·         Preparation of quotations, negotiating terms for customers and closing sales

·         Oversee the operational aspects of Bancassurance business at the branch i.e. underwriting, claims, finance and customer service

·         Ensuring all collaterals and assets that have Bank interest on, are properly and comprehensively insured and the Bank’s interest properly noted

·         Ensuring that Bank, customers and staff insurable assets insured under the branch are renewed on time and premium is paid up

·         Adherence to the set Bancassurance policies and procedures

·         Training of customers and branch staff on insurance translating to business conversion

·         Ensuring that all queries on technical insurance issues from customers and branch staff are addressed promptly while providing technical guidance

·         Preparation of relevant production and financial reports

 

    Qualifications and competencies

·        University graduates in Business, Banking / Finance / Accounting or related discipline

         Minimum 3 years solid experience underwriting and claims management preferably as a bancassurance, insurance company, broker or agency environment

         Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of bancassurance

         Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, analytical, negotiation skills and ability to respond quickly

         Good team player with an ability to work independently and under pressure to deliver on tight deadlines

         Passionate and motivated to achieve goals with minimum supervision
